Set on two floors and being at the top of the Moat House this apartment has excellent views all round of the cloisters and the cricket field to Fort Augustus village.

Fort Augustus Abbey is a magnificent building which stands in 20 acres of beautifully maintained garden grounds at the southern end of Loch Ness and which, until recently, was home to an order of Saint Benedictine monks. The Abbey is surrounded on three sides by the waters of the Caledonian Canal, Loch Ness and two rivers.

The accommodation is warm and cosy throughout the year and is an ideal retreat for those wanting to spend some quality time walking and relaxing and for quietly enjoying the refined and relaxed atmosphere of this historic Abbey. It is close to the Great Glen cycle way and forest walks.

The village has several nice restaurants bars and shops and the Caledonian canal runs through the village. It is so relaxing to sit outside a canal side bar or café with a drink and watch the boats pass through the lock gates.  If you want to do some sightseeing from here, Fort William (Ben Nevis) and Inverness only an hour away by car. The West coast is also only a little over an hours drive.

Some things people have said about Moat House 5 - Abbey recently.

Jim & Linda Beattie

Stayed in this beautiful apartment over New Year and had a wonderful break with our daughter and boyfriend. The apartment has everything you would ever need to make it a truly home from home. The Abbey itself is beautiful with plenty of places to visit nearby. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this lovely apartment. We want to return next New Year so we will be looking at booking that soon. Thanks again

PIERRE DU TOIT & FAMILY

The brilliantly friendly and professional service which we received from Corrinne Roberts of Wilderness Cottages from our very first enquiry was just the beginning of the most superb experience. Two weeks respectively were spent at the Abbey in Fort Augustus and Admiral Napier House in Cromarty. Corrine, the first-class accomodation and your excellent service will certainly be remembered and widely recommended by one and all in the du Toit family. We look forward to dealing with you again in the future and thank you so much for adding to our experience in Scotland !

The Moat House was in the beautiful setting of Fort Augustus unfortunately we found that Moat House 5 was unsuitable for 4 adults, 2 couples. Bedroom 2 was very very small with no wardrobe space and the bathroom didn’t have a shower. The drive way was very dirty and full of pot holes due to the building work. The welcome pack of milk, biscuits and wine were much appreciated. The Bothy in the village was a great eating place. Watching the boats was very relaxing, would go to Fort Augustus again but would not stay at the Moat House again.
