"Gruinyards" Monastery 18 is situated on the shores of the world famous Loch Ness. It is a well appointed apartment in the beautifully converted Bendictine Monastery which is set within around 20 acres of private grounds. Guinyards is on the top floor of the Monastery, which is the largest of all the buildings in the abbey and is loch facing. The entrance to the apartment is through the court of arches, this is where four corridors meet in the cloisters and the massive support columns were built for housing the monastic bell tower. This is an ideal retreat for those wanting to spend some quality time just relaxing and enjoying the refined and relaxed atmosphere of this historic Abbey.

Fort Augustus the loch side village, is only a few minutes walk from the apartment and offers visitors a variety of restaurants and bars along with a small supermarket and a post office.  The Caledonian canal runs through the village and many an hour can be spent just watching the boats going through the locks on their way to and from Loch Ness, or you can take a trip on Loch Ness and do a spot of “Nessie” hunting. 

Fort Augustus is ideally situated for touring the Highlands and Islands and is a very popular holiday destination. Fort William, Isle of Skye and Inverness - all are within an hour's drive from your accommodation.  The area around Loch Ness is ideal if you wish to do some walking and as the Great Glen cycle route pass through the village you could bring your bikes or hire some locally.

Gruinyards is on the top floor of the Monastery and has wonderful views on three sides including a panoramic view along Loch Ness. (There are not lifts, so the apartment would not be suitable for the less able). The open plan living area has been furnished to a high standard.

• This room has double aspect windows one has a stunning view over Loch Ness and the other window overlooks the mountainside. The kitchen area is fully fitted with modern units and granite worktops and includes, electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, washer/dryer,fridge, freezer, microwave and all the usual cooking utensils. Dining table for 6. The lounge area has two leather sofas and a leather armchair. TV,DVD and CD player.

Bedrooms

• Master bedroom has a king size bed and an ensuite bathroom with a roll top bath, wash hand basin and toilet.
• The second bedroom has two single beds. Seperate bathroom with bath and shower over, wash hand basin and toilet.
  
  *If the sofa bed in the lounge is used there is a small charge of £20 to cover the cost of the additional laundry.

Other Facilities Available

Tennis court, croquet, table tennis, giant chess, boules and other activities are available within the grounds of the Abbey. Loch-side barbecue and seating area on the Monastery lawn.  The Boathouse Restaurant, on the shores of Loch Ness, is just a few minutes walk away (please contact the restaurant direct for opening times - 01320 366682) and the luxurious Club Lounge with billiards table, wireless internet access and comfortable seating is available for your use.

Please note. The Monastery is part of a renovation project and work on other buildings may be in progress during your stay. You should not be inconvenienced although this cannot be guaranteed. The prices for the apartment have been set to take the building work into consideration.
