Garden Cottage at the Fort Augustus Abbey is now ready for self catering. This exclusive development of twelve cottages is nearing completion and we are delighted to offer you the cottage for your self catering holiday.

Although separate from the actual Abbey complex all the facilities of the Abbey are available for guests. Once completed this will include a swimming pool and a residents lounge with pool/snooker table and internet access. Tennis courts, badminton, table tennis, croquet lawn and a giant chess set are now available and with a barbecue area and seating by the loch side you will be able to enjoy the long summer evenings, chatting with new friends and just soaking up the view. The Abbey at Fort Augustus is the ideal place to get away from it all and spend some quality time just relaxing and enjoying the refined atmosphere of this historic Abbey.

The shores of Loch Ness are just a couple of minutes walk from your accommodation, here you can dine at the Boathouse restaurant with its views down Loch Ness. The facilities of the village of Fort Augustus, again are only a few minutes walk. Walking, cycling, golfing, fishing are all well catered for in the surrounding areas and the cottage is ideally located for touring the Highlands. Within an hour's drive from the accommodation is Fort William and Invereness - the Capital City at the mouth of the River Ness, further afield The Isle of Skye with its amazing history and great places to visit like The Talisker Distillery, make a great day out.

Fort Augustus is a very popular holiday destination and offers visitors a variety of restaurants and bars along with a small supermarket and a post office.  The Caledonian canal runs through the village and many an hour can be spent just watching the boats going through the locks on their way to and from Loch Ness, or you can take a trip on Loch Ness and do a spot of “Nessie” hunting.

The cottage is set over two floors with an open plan kitchen/living area, twin bedroom and separate bathroom downstairs. The master bedroom is upstairs and has a separate bathroom with bath and shower. The access to the cottage is suitable for wheelchairs and with a downstairs bedroom and bathroom, it means the cottage is ideal for disabled or older guests.

  • Galley kitchen fully fitted with modern units and granite worktops and includes, electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge, freezer, microwave and all the usual cooking utensils.
  • The open plan living area has windows overlooking the river and patio doors leading to the garden overlooking the Abbey Church. Furnished to a high standard and with comfort in mind, the lounge area has a large corner sofa, flat screen Digital TV, DVD, CD, Radio & iPod Docking Station are included. The lounge also has a wood burning stove for those cosy nights in, relaxing after a day exploring the area. Dining table and chairs for four.
  • Twin bedroom with adjoining bathroom, with bath, wash hand basin, toilet and heated towel rail.

Directions

Take the A82 via Fort William to Fort Augustus. Turn right onto the B862. The entrance to the Abbey is on your left.

As you approach the Abbey, follow the road to the right which will lead you around to the Courtyard cottages.
