'Lochview Loft' Monastery 16 is situated on the shores of world famous Loch Ness. It is a well appointed and elegant apartment in the beautifully converted Benedictine Monastery, which is set within around 20 acres of maintained private grounds. It is on the third (top) floor of the Monastery, which is the largest of all the buildings in the abbey and is loch facing. The access to the apartment is via the tiled and vaulted cloister walk, which runs around the beautiful cloister garden at the heart of the Abbey. This is an ideal and romantic retreat for those wanting to spend some quality time just unwinding and enjoying the refined and relaxed atmosphere of this historic Abbey. The apartment is double aspect and looks out over the Monastery lawn with views down the entire length of Loch Ness on one side, and over the beautiful cloister garden on the other.

The Abbey, the oldest building in Fort Augustus, is built on the site of an old Hanovarian fort named after William Augustus, Duke of Cumberland, and the original foundations still form part of the buildings today. It was more recently a school, run by the monks, but it was closed some years ago due to financial pressures when, finally, the Monks closed the Abbey as a place of worship and the buildings were sold. Now, Fort Augustus Abbey, a Grade A listed building, has been painstakingly and tastefully renovated and converted into luxury apartment accommodation.

Fort Augustus the loch side village, is only a few minutes walk from the apartment and offers visitors a variety of restaurants and bars along with a small supermarket and a post office. The Caledonian Canal runs through the village and many an hour can be spent just watching the boats going through the locks on their way to and from Loch Ness, or you can take a trip on Loch Ness and do a spot of “Nessie” hunting.

The village is ideally situated for touring the Highlands and Islands and is a very popular holiday destination. Fort William, Isle of Skye and Inverness - all are within an hour's drive from your accommodation. The area around Loch Ness is ideal if you wish to do some walking and as the Great Glen cycle route passes through the village you could bring your bikes or hire some locally.

When the weather here is kind, it is simply heaven on earth and when it is not so kind, Loch Ness oozes with an atmosphere and mystery that is hard to find anywhere else on earth. ‘Lochview Loft’ is on the top floor of the Monastery – as there are no lifts, this apartment would not be suitable for the less able.

This spacious room features lovely wood floors and eye-level conservation skylight windows with stunning views of Loch Ness on one side and the cloister garden on the other. Dining table for 6. The lounge area has one sofa, two velvet Chesterfield armchairs and one club chair. Flat screen TV, DVD player and CD micro-system.
• The kitchen area is fully fitted with modern units and granite worktops and includes electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge, freezer, microwave and all the usual cooking utensils.

Bedrooms

• Master bedroom has a king size bed and an en-suite shower room, with black granite vanity surface, slate flooring and large mirror, including shower cubicle, wash hand basin and toilet.
• Twin bedroom - bathroom along hallway with bath, wash hand basin and toilet.
• Full gas central heating.

Other Facilities Available

Tennis court, croquet, table tennis, giant chess, boules and other activities are available within the grounds of the Abbey. Loch-side barbecue and seating area on the Monastery lawn.
The Boathouse Restaurant, on the shores of Loch Ness, is just a few minutes walk away and the luxurious Club Lounge with billiards table, wireless internet access and comfortable seating is available for your use.

Please note.  Renovation work on other buildings may be in progress during your stay. As the Monastery itself is completely finished, you should not be inconvenienced, although this can not be guaranteed.  The prices for the apartment have been set to take the building work into consideration.
