Challtuinn

Errogie, South Loch Ness

Large self catering holiday property situated in extensive garden grounds.

  • Sleeps 8
  • Log Fire
  • Pets welcome

Challtuinn self catering accommodation, is blessed with being situated in a well established garden and is ideal for large parties. Stratherrick, threaded with quiet roads, runs parallel to Loch Ness but several hundred feet higher in altitude and closer to the wilderness country of the Monadhliath mountains - room to wander at your leisure amongst wild crags and heather covered moors, resplendent in summer in their purple haze of bloom or covered like icing with dazzling winter snows. This is a breathtakingly beautiful location for a holiday where peaceful forests, hills and lochs dominate.

With wildlife, dramatic as the scenery, herds of red deer wander the hillsides, and many a buzzard will be seen wheeling effortlessly above the property, scanning the wild country below. Osprey fish in the surrounding lochs in the summer months and hundreds of wild geese populate the loch shores during the winter. If you want to feel part of this, the wildness of Scotland, even for a few days, then a stay at Challtuinn will help you experience it all. The property is large, ideally suited for larger family holidays and groups of friends where you will each have plenty of space to relax and do your own thing if you want to.

The property is situated at Errogie, a small hamlet on the quieter South Loch Ness side, only a ten minute drive to the shoreline of Loch Ness, where you will find picnic sites and lochside walks on the stretch of road between Inverfarigaig and Dores.

Inverness is 20 miles distance with plenty of supermarkets, varied shops, theatre, swimming pool and many other visitor attractions.  Fort Augustus lies 15 miles in the opposite direction, a charming village centred on the locks of the Caledonian Canal, with a good choice of eating places and interesting heritage centres and shops. There’s plenty of scope here for restful relaxation, watching the river craft plying their way through the locks of the Caledonian Canal.  The west coast and the Isle of Skye and Inverewe gardens are only about 90 minutes drive away – a great day out.

Eating out, there is lots of choice in Inverness and a couple of local places here, The Whitebridge Hotel is a short drive from the house and serves excellent food. The hotel bar and restaurant is open to non residents, and there are a couple of hotel bars and restaurants at Foyers 3 miles away, further away is Dores, home to the now famous Rockness concert, and its well known Inn, The Dores, which is approximately 10 miles away.

Just returned from the cottage and all the great memories are still vivid. It is a lovely house in a lovely location and would recommend it to everyone. Perfect for dogs and people with plenty of walks and close to many beautiful places. It is a large open plan house that will not disappoint anyone.

We stayed here in late September with our 2 dogs and were delighted with house and the location. It was perfect for dog walking and quite central for all of our sightseeing. The house was huge with plenty of space for the 4 of us. Our dogs loved the open space of back garden. The kitchen was well equipped and we had everything we required. At night the living room was cosy with the open fire lit. It is well worth a visit to this beautifull part of the country. We loved the resident goose and ducks who greeted us every morning on the veranda. We pre ordered a Tesco online shop which was delivered straight to the door and I would recommend it to anybody thinking of doing their holiday shop in that way. It gave us more time to relax and enjoy the surroundings. There was plenty of storage space in the kitchen and lots of books and board games to entertain. Thank you.

What a terrific surprise, this house is so spacious and had everything we would have wanted. A real country feel, with spectacular views. Peaceful and serene. Only 5mins from loch ness and Boleskine.
