Ample cottages are thrilled to be able to offer you these traditional self catering cottages overlooking Loch Ness at Borlum Farm, Drumnadrochit.

Creag Iolaire -

well named, the 'Hill of the Eagles' self catering holiday cottage is perched up on the side of the hill at Strone, high above the Loch Ness side village of Drumnadrochit and has unique and breathtaking views over Loch Ness and up Glenurquhart to the distant mountains of glen Affric. In fact, the view is panoramic!

There isn't another cottage like it anywhere around Loch Ness, but don't take our word for it - come and experience a holiday here for yourself. You can go on lovely walks straight from your door and your dog is welcome to accompany you, or you can just spend the week drinking in the scenery. The owners will be happy to advise you of the best walks for both two legs and four !!

Marnies Croft -

is a modernised croft house located in a unique elevated position with magnificent views overlooking Urquhart Castle and Loch Ness.  The cottage is in a very private and seculed location.  Roe deer and other wild life are frequently seen in the field in front of the house.

The cottages are situated on a hill farm, with historic links dating back to its service to Urquhart Castle in the 16th century, providing castle inmates and retainers with necessary sustaining provisions! Today, sheep and horses are seen grazing the fields around the castle. The farm has a B.H.S. approved riding centre with excellent facilities, catering for all ages and magnificent riding country with views that will linger in your memory for years to come.

It is just a short walk to the bars, restaurants and shops of Drumnadrochit or to picnic on the shores of loch Ness. Loch Ness is on your doorstep - you can picnic at Borlum Bay.  The woods here are a nature conservancy site for rare woodland and bog plants and wildlife. Drumnadrochit is ideally located to explore further afield, Skye and the west coast or even the northern highlands are easily accessed in a day.

Some things people have said about Creag nah Iolaire recently.

Lynn O'Brien

Have just come back from the most loveley week in a great house. Views were stunning & we had visits from many birds including a buzzard & deer in the field outside. Cant praise it hightly enough & am looking forward to going back again.

The Grimmond Family

Creag na H-Iolaire is a lovely, well-equipped cottage with a superb location and the views, especially from the dining area, are absolutely spectacular. Downstairs is very spacious and well laid out, the bedrooms are so comfortable - and the wood burning stove was a treat in the evenings. There are myriads of books to keep you occupied as well as board games, DVDs, videos and the piano. We also enjoyed the walks in the nearby woods, the cruise on the "Nessie Hunter", the visit to the Pottery and a meal from Baking Birds. The steep part of the road to the cottage is a bit daunting first time round but you get used to it very quickly. My daughter and I (complete novices) had a first ever lesson at the riding school. The horses selected for us were extremely good natured and the instructor was excellent - very helpful and encouraging and always on hand if you needed any extra assistance. It was a great experience. The cottage had it all - you can simply relax there and soak in the scenery and,if you want, there are lots of things to do further afield. We had a wonderful holiday!! 23/2/10 Quality homely cottage. Situated high above Loch Ness the views from the living area and from one of the double bedrooms upstairs are breathtaking. All you need is here. Literally hundreds of books available to read from the bookcases. Note the cottage is accessed by a very steep road. Would love to return again. Highly recommended. Ray Walters.

We had a lovely stay in this spacious & beautiful house. Really gorgeous decorations. The views over Loch Ness Lake are absolutely stunning. The wood fire was just what was needed during the big chill. No quibble about the amount of wood needed - just as well as it was -12 outside! The Kitchen is very well appointed & perfect for our Xmas lunch

Lots of snow walks - a fun & a healthy way to spend the week in a magical location: local castle/ruin, a trip on a boat on the lake & walks near the house afforded wonderful views & photographic opportunities.

Cathie Hamilton and Phil Ellement

We thoroughly enjoyed our third stay at Creag Nah Iolaire, and highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quiet and peaceful location, with magnificent views of Loch Ness. The cottage is comfortable and well appointed, and we loved the new bathroom that had been added since our last trip.
You will receive a warm welcome, and maybe like us, you won’t want to leave !
